2015 American Academy of Health Behavior 15th Annual Scientific Meeting

andy_keynote_2On March 16, 2015, Dr. Kaczynski attended the American Academy of Health Behavior 15th Annual Scientific Meeting in San Antonio, TX and it was a busy day! The morning started bright and early with an invited plenary presentation entitled “Using mobile technology for community-based physical activity research and engagement” in which he discussed a variety of BEACH Lab projects that incorporated innovative technologies. Some of the topics covered included the electronic Community Park Audit Tool (eCPAT), Park Hop, and current  plans related to Public Participatory Geographic Information Systems (PPGIS).

In the afternoon, Dr. Kaczynski led a workshop about the eCPAT app, which included a trip to a local park and some interactive demonstrations and discussions with the diverse participants in attendance (see photo). Finally, the evening was highlighted by a poster session where I presented a poster on behalf of Gina Besenyi about the development and beta-testing of the eCPAT app with youth in Greenville County. Of course, I couldn’t leave Texas without enjoying some tasty barbecue and Shiner Bock on the San Antonio Riverwalk with several friends, new and old, that I look forward to seeing again soon.
